Authentication & Account

  • Purpose: Secure user login, session management, and subscription status tracking
  • Type: Session cookie (deleted when you sign out)
  • Data: Encrypted authentication token, user session identifier, subscription plan status
  • Security: httpOnly and secure flags enabled, encrypted end-to-end
  • Provider: Managed by our authentication provider

Session Storage

  • Purpose: Maintain your connection to game rooms
  • Type: Session cookie (deleted when browser closes)
  • Data: Connection ID, room code, username

WebSocket Connection

  • Purpose: Enable real-time multiplayer gameplay
  • Type: Temporary (exists only during active connection)
  • Data: Connection state and game synchronization

Payment Processing

When subscribing to Premium, additional cookies may be used:

Stripe Payment Cookies

  • Purpose: Secure payment processing and fraud prevention
  • Type: Temporary cookies during checkout process
  • Provider: Stripe (payment processor)
  • Security: PCI Level 1 certified, card data never stored on our servers
  • Duration: Deleted after payment is completed

Analytics (Cookie-Free)

We use privacy-focused analytics that do not require cookies:

  • Purpose: Understand game usage and improve user experience

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through browser settings. However, because Casefile uses only essential cookies required for gameplay:

  • Blocking these cookies will prevent the game from functioning properly
  • There are no optional tracking cookies to disable
  • All cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser or disconnect from the game

Third-Party Services

Casefile does not use any third-party cookies. However, we use the following cookie-free service:

  • Vercel Analytics: A privacy-focused analytics service that operates without cookies, does not track personally identifiable information, and is fully compliant with GDPR and CCPA regulations. It collects only anonymous, aggregated data about game usage.

We do not integrate with advertising networks or social media platforms that would place cookies on your device.

Data Retention

All cookie and session data is automatically deleted:

  • Immediately: When you disconnect from a game or close your browser
  • Within 24 hours: Server-side session data for inactive rooms
